The Fifth helped to organise the tables and devised a music play list and power point presentation of photos from the year. The girls ate and then danced the night away (do check out the pics - you will even see Father David on the dance floor, John Travolta eat your heart out!)
Thanks were made to all the girls, Matron, Cat Ward and the Tutors. A special thank you went to Martin Pascoe, our very own Mr Chips, who he will be retiring at the end of the year. He was given a House Hoody to use when he is sailing which will hopefully help him remember the House. The girls will miss him greatly for his sense of humour and fatherly guidance. Thank you for your support and sense of fun Martin - we will miss you.
House Colours were then awarded to Amanda Chan, Harriet Kottering, Katrina Marina, Jenny Forster, Isabella Weijnman and Hannah Brand for contribution to the House over their time in Aberdeen. (And honorary Colours went to Martin Pascoe too!)
The next four awards given were based on the ethos of Aberdeen.
The 'Cup of Friendship' (This cup is beautiful silver Cup dating from 1876) was given to Steph Bland for her sense of fun and friendship in the House. She is affectionately known as 'Mamma Steph' by the Shell Boarders as she would always tuck them up in bed. At Christmas she was our very own Father Christmas and always played a key role in the Social Events.
The 'Aberdeen Award', which is a crystal perfume bottle was given to Poppy Smith. This award was given for being the best you can be and aiming high, qualities like persistence, fairness and fun. Poppy has worked really hard behind the scenes with the Social Events and the Charity evenings.
The 'House Mistress Cup' is a beautiful cup given by the first House Mistress of Aberdeen, which is now reinstated. This went to Amanda Chan for her immense contribution to the House during her time in Aberdeen. Her guidance, support and drive have made Aberdeen a truly awesome musical body.
And finally the 'Aberdeen Dragon', the award went to Harriet Kottering who demonstrated the true values of the House. She has been a wonderful House Captain, supportive to all, kind and a true friend. She is the one that everyone will go to if they need advice.
The Fifth have been a wonderful, supportive year and we wish them well in the forthcoming GCSE's. The Remove now take up the reins in the Summer Term and will have to work hard to fill the shoes they leave behind. Good luck.
