Dear Aberdeen Parents, girls and friends,

Dear Aberdeen Parents, girls and friends,

Welcome to the House blog. The aim of this blog is to give you access to non-vital information about the House and College. The girls get involved with so much at the College and I hope to use this forum as a way of keeping you informed of the activities they get involved in.

Please do join in and check it out whenever you can.

Best wishes,

Kate Newson

Aberdeen Alpine Night

The Aberdeen girls had lots of fun baking cookies, shnitzles and cutting up fruit for the Chocolate fountain.
The boys from Hilton and Mertens were entertained by singing from Amanda on the guitar and an Alpine Quiz and other fun games.  The atmosphere was warm and friendly and everyone had a really pleasant time.

Star of the Week: 'Cup of Hope - Josephine Lau'

Josie in happier moments
This week the Star of the Week goes to Josie, who received some sad family news on the weekend, but who showed courage and resilience to keep going throughout the week.   Josie, with the help of her friends, members of staff and the all important skype coped with the day to day routine admirably.  Our thoughts and prayers our with her and her family.

Aberdeen Coffee Morning

Thank you for all the Mums who made it to the 1st Aberdeen Coffee Morning.  We hope to hold one every half term and will select different days so that more might attend.   It was lovely for Mum's from different age groups to mix and start to get to know one another.

Star of the Week: Sophie Coles

Sophie has been selected to attend County Hockey trials and we wish her well and the best of luck in her pursuit of excellence.

Aberdeen Girls representing the College at Netball

The U15 and U14 Netball teams were at home against Lancing College this Saturday.   They all played really well and won all of their matches.   I managed to get most of the girls on film.   Take a look.....

Tiah (Neal) textbook shooting

Sammi intercepting a pass

Rebecca recieving a pass in mid air

Caitlin passing in attack

Zoe looking for a pass in the circle

Star of the Week: Charlotte Martin-Linsley

Charlotte has just began boarding this term and has really enjoyed it.   She also skied  in the A team for the College during the Christmas Holidays, along with Jenny Sloane, the Head Girl and other senior pupils.   She was the only Shell girl to go on the trip and coped really well.   Here is a picture of Charlotte playing netball on Saturday, shooting at goal.   The team did really well beating Lancing College, thank you largely to Charlottes' accurate shooting.

Fifth trip to Zizzi's

Fifth Form celebrated the end of their Mock exams by dining out at Zizzi's.  Hazel so loves tiramasu that she rang ahead to reserved enough for everyone.   Last time she went they had run out of her favourite pud, so to make sure she warned them in advance.
The Fifth would like to thank Mr Caston and the Hilton boys for looking after the Remove and Shell girls who were left behind, but it sounds as if they had lots of fun too.

Molly gives her feelings about her first term at Ardingly College

Reflections from my first term at Ardingly
I am a flexi boarder, I board two nights a week. I came with four girls from my old school, they are all in Neal but Aberdeen has been really fun! The breakfast is really yummy and all the boarders are really nice. I still don’t know whether I prefer being a boarder or a day but being a part of both is really fun. I can’t wait for the rest of the next 2-4 years ahead to get everything out of what Ardingly has to offer.

Santa-in -residence came to Aberdeen to hand out the secret Santa presents during the last Monday's Call Over.  Santa (AKA Steph) had lots of fun hoho-ing and handing out the special prezzies.   Matron also had a thank you from the House.  Take a look......

I am delighted to say that Charlotte Childs (Shell), Ashleigh John (Remove) and Harriet Kottering (Fifth) were the nominated individuals.   Thank you to them for the support and friendship they have clearly offered the girls in the House.
