Dear Aberdeen Parents, girls and friends,

Dear Aberdeen Parents, girls and friends,

Welcome to the House blog. The aim of this blog is to give you access to non-vital information about the House and College. The girls get involved with so much at the College and I hope to use this forum as a way of keeping you informed of the activities they get involved in.

Please do join in and check it out whenever you can.

Best wishes,

Kate Newson

House Mistress of Aberdeen

Winners of the Tug of War

All the Aberdeen Girls were so keen to get involved that we were able to put out two teams.
Aberdeen A team beat Neal and Aberdeen B beat Toynbee for the first time ever!
We then were both in the final which we won (Aberdeen A beat Aberdeen B in the final).
It was great fun and I am so delighted that so many were keen to get involved.

Sneaky pictures of Mr Stedman on the Bucking Bronco

End of Year Fun on the Upper

It was a fantastic night for the whole of the College, Bucking Bronco's, Bungee runs and Human Table Football plus lots of other activities and a disco.   Everyone, including the staff had a great night.   It was a sunny evening with a warm atmosphere, lots of laughter with new and old friends.  A brilliant time to relax at the end of a busy term and indeed year.

Laser Quest is the Best

This years House outing was as far Stangrove Wood and Frenchmans, but Ultimate Laser Games came to us.   The girls had loads of fun on Sunday night.   At times it was really funny at others completely scary.   George and William joined in and it was out and out war shooting Mum!   A lovely BBQ was had at the Pavilion in the late afternoon sunshine.

Some of the girls wrote:
The sun was up and the camo gear was out. Us Aberdeen girls were ready for some laser questing! It was quite a sunny afternoon and we were all buzzing to get out in the woods. We were greeted by two old Ardinians who own the Laser Games company in the late afternoon-soon enough we sorted our teams and were ready to get muddy!

Admittedly a few of us might have got a little bit too excited (might have been me), and some people got a little more competitive than others (but I won’t point fingers(Mr + Mrs Lewis),  the friendly competitive spirit brought an incredible amount of fun to our afternoon.  The house event was a great success and all of us really enjoyed it and owe special thanks to Mrs Newson for organising it all.

The Remove having fun on Thursday night

The Remove find themselves on their own with the Shell in Normandy and the Fifth on Study leave.  They cooked and baked a cake.   They danced and sang really loudly!

Recycling Sculpture Challenge 2012 at Goodwood Park

Just thought some of you might like to see some wonderful sculpture work which the Art Department and their pupils have created.   Some of the pupils have participated in the Recycling Sculpture Challenge 2012, at Goodwood Park.   They were all individually wonderful creations and great stories on where the inspiration came from.
Ardingly entered the 6th Form Category and as you can see Jade Edment did really well.

1st Prize
Aimee Determan - (Chichester High School for Girls) with sculpture "Britains Fridge"
2nd prize
Jade Edment (Ardingly College) with sculpture "Spill"
3rd Prize
Emily Durrant - (Central Sussex College)  with sculpture  "The Last Orchid"

Here are some pictures from their creations.   Well done.

Girls help out with the Prep School Alternative Olympics

This evening some of the Remove and Fifth Form help out with the Prep School Boarders when they took part in their Alternative Olympics.   It was great fun and they made some new friends.   Jess from Uganda started to talk with someone from Kenya and they found that they knew people in common - what a small world.
Sammi J writes:
We had a fun evening playing with the prep school. It's safe to say one of the most enjoyable evening schools! (Apart from an egg smashing on my face) but at next years 'crazy olympics' I'll get them back!
